A team led by Q-Free and Cisco is unveiling a show-stopping, fully operational traffic management network on the exhibition floor. Demonstration partners include local host the Georgia Department of Transportation, along with a prestigious cross-section of ITS World Congress exhibitors including Esri, Iteris, Hanwha Vision, Daktronics, and Roadsys.

Unlike traditional demonstrations based on theoretical models, this initiative features real-world technology integrated across the show floor to create a fully functioning traffic management centre. Attendees will experience first-hand how Q-Free’s ATMS communicates seamlessly across multiple devices and systems, using common industry protocols such as NTCIP and ONVIF, within a modern, secure, and flexible architecture.

Cisco’s achievement in setting up a scalable wireless network—connecting disparate systems to a Network Operations Centre (NOC) overnight to support the demonstration—underscores the unprecedented scale and impact of the showcase.

“Collaboration and quick-turn integrations among vendors have never been done at this scale on a showroom floor, and we’re thrilled to make it happen,” says Whitney Nottage, EVP of Traffic Management at Q-Free.

The demonstration will also serve as a platform to address the evolving challenges of cybersecurity and connectivity in transportation systems. During the Congress, Q-Free will launch a new solution aimed at enhancing cybersecurity standards for traffic signal systems. This includes end-to-end encryption, federated authentication, and a modern architecture designed to address long-standing security gaps in intersection control.
