Wavetronix has announced that its SmartSensor HD has been selected as the traffic detection device for a project in Incheon City, South Korea.

Image Sensing Systems (ISS) has announced that Richard Wenham has been appointed as the CEO of the company’s subsidiary Image Sensing Systems Europe, headquartered in the United Kingdom. Wenham, who will report to Ken Aubrey, company president and CEO, joins the company from Ricardo, where he was director of Intelligent Transportation Systems and Hybrid Electric Vehicles. His experience includes over 20 years of both engineering and senior management experience in embedded systems, automotive and ITS.

Flow Traffic Limited, the Hong Kong-based wholly owned subsidiary of Image Sensing Systems, has won a large contract to supply vehicle detection systems to the city of Guangzhou, China. The contract is part of infrastructure improvements required for the Asian Games, a major sporting event to be held in Guangzhou from 12-27 November. The project will provide real time traffic guidance and journey time information to reduce congestion and travel time during the international event.

Aldis, a specialist in next-generation vehicle detection and traffic management systems and developer of the GridSmart vision-based traffic monitoring and control system., has announced that Dr. Bill Sowell has joined its executive management team as senior vice president - international. Most recently serving as managing director for Swarco Middle East, Sowell’s background includes senior level roles in organisations such as Econolite, Peek Traffic, Image Sensing Systems, TEC Engineering and Swarco AG.

Locations on both the East and West Coasts of the US are scheduled for early deployments of IBM's new Traffic Prediction Tool (TPT) statistical analysis model for the fine-time resolution and near-term prediction of road flow conditions. URS has been awarded a two-year contract, with the option for a two-year extension, by the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) to provide operations and support services for the Gateway Guide Transportation Management Centre (TMC) located in St. Louis, Missouri. The centre monitors over 350kms interstate utilising nearly 500 sensors and 250 traffic cameras in the St. Louis Metropolitan Area.
