Telvent completes ORT project in Texas

Telvent GIT has announced that it has successfully completed an open road tolling (ORT) system in coordination with the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority on the new 183A Expressway Northern Extension. The system, based on Telvent’s SmartMobility tolling solution, is designed to reduce travel times and maximise efficiency of the toll collection process.

Indra implements ITS technology on Mexico’s Guadalajara-Tepic motorways

The leading road concessionaire in Mexico, Ideal, has awarded Spanish multinational Indra a US$21.67 million contract for implementing its technology in the three motorways that make up what is known as Mexico's South Pacific Package for the amount of €17 million. The project consists of implementing the ITS as well as the tolls and electronic tolls on the motorway that connects the cities of Tepic and Guadalajara, the second most important in Mexico, as well as in the beltways of both cities.

In a bid to narrow the state's budget gap, lawmakers in Connecticut are considering the reintroduction of toll roads. New contactless technology is being pioneered on the UK's M6 toll, which is operated by Midland Expressway. The technology is being developed in partnership with the UK bank Barclays and will enable drivers to make contactless payments when using the road with their debit and credit cards.
