NEC to work with Royal Borough of Greenwich for smart city solutions

Vaisala forecasts bright future for weather station
Vaisala is showing its latest weather station, which aims to give more accurate results to help provide safety information for road users. The heart of the new station is an onboard Linux computer. This enables it to take data from several sensors and interpolate between them, giving ‘best of breed’ information using the best elements of each sensor, said Daniel Johns, Vaisala’s global head of road and rail.

Vaisala to manage Pennsylvania road weather information network

TransCore to upgrade Delaware River bridge toll system
The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission (DRJTBC) has awarded TransCore a US$24.9 million multi-year design-build-maintain contract for a complete overhaul of the agency’s toll collection system infrastructure. The modernisation project will include virtually every aspect of the agency’s toll system: manual cash collections, conventional toll-lane E-ZPass transactions, highway-speed open-road tolling, and future all-electronic tolling at the Scudder Falls replacement bridge.

Mayor unveils expanded traffic-busting plans to keep London moving
The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, has unveiled the new measures Transport for London (TfL) is introducing to ease traffic in the capital and minimise disruption on the roads as major work to improve the network continues as part of the Mayor’s US$6 billion Road Modernisation Plan. Swarco scoops city centre signage contracts

Mobile Visual Information Systems (MVIS) and Bartco UK have partnered on the creation of a journey time solution (JTS) for Bam Morgan Sindall Joint Venture (BMJV) and Costain, contracted by Highways England.
