The New Zealand government has unveiled plans to spend US$10.3 billion on the country's land transport system over the next three years, partly funded by increases in petrol excise duty and road user charges. Transport minister Gerry Brownlee said the programme was the largest of its kind in New Zealand's history and would fund transport infrastructure and services around New Zealand such as state highway improvements and the Government's "roads of national significance".
Moxa has introduced new technology which it claims improve network reliability for smart transportation applications. V-On Video Always On is a video stream recovery technology on Moxa's latest Ethernet switches that provides 50ms redundancy for multicast video streams when used with Moxa's Turbo Ring or Turbo Chain. The company says that with a simple configuration setting, the technology enables the video stream to resume almost as quickly as the network itself.
The submission date for papers for the ITS World Congress has been extended from 13 January to 25 January 2016. The extension applies to Technical, Scientific or Commercial Papers and Special Interest Session proposals.

Ticketless parking payment specialist Veri-park is now installing barrier-controlled solutions to complement its barrier-less systems. However, the parking payment process remains ticketless. The announcement comes as part of Veri-park’s drive to expand its range of parking solutions to address specific customer feedback and follows the successful first year of operation of a barrier controlled, ticketless Veri-park solution at a busy hospital in Wolverhampton.
