  • Scottish government to provide more funding for low-carbon buses

    A third round of funding for low-carbon buses has been announced by the Scottish government. A total of £3 million (US£4.7 million) will be available to bus operators under the Green Bus Fund 3 scheme. Keith Brown, Scottish transport minister, said the first two rounds helped nine operators introduce 74 new eco-friendly buses. Lothian Buses, which secured funds in an earlier round, said its new ADL Enviro 400H hybrids are 56.7% more fuel efficient than the old buses they replaced.

  • UK van drivers drive more carefully in their personal vehicles

    A new study by TomTom indicates that more than a third (39 per cent) of UK van drivers admit to driving more carefully when using their personal vehicle. The research, conducted among light commercial vehicle (LCV) drivers, found 67 per cent of those did so to save money on fuel and vehicle wear and tear and 29 per cent because of the absence of working time pressures.

    Teleste is deploying two additional Connected Zone bus stops to improve safety and security at the Nokia Bell Labels LuxTurrim5G project in Espoo, Finland. The LuxTurrim5G project seeks to develop and demonstrate a fast 5G network based on smart light poles with integrated antennas, base stations, sensors, screens and other devices.
