In the wake of the VW emissions scandal in late 2015, the European Commission has published its proposed revision of vehicle type approval legislation. In a clear effort towards reform, the Commission calls for market surveillance for vehicles after their release. The proposal increases the oversight of type approval authorities and introduces regular checks from independent market surveillance authorities.
Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA), California, has awarded Iteris a contract to conduct a Vehicle-to-Infrastructure State of the Practice Review. The study will cover connected vehicle technology between vehicles (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) and will make recommendations for how the OCTA can advance their development and use as the technologies and their applications mature.
Following successful field testing, the first phase of the Masabi MTA eTix apps developed for New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), is expected to launch on select lines of the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) and Metro-North (MNR) in June.
