Swedish car maker Volvo Cars is to join forces with ride-sharing company Uber to develop next generation autonomous driving cars, alliance marks the beginning of what both companies view as a longer term industrial partnership.

Manufacturer and distributor of engines China Yuchai International (CYI), through its main subsidiary Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Group, has announced that 200 hybrid buses have been delivered to the city-based Baotou Bus company in inner Mongolia. The fleet has been manufactured by Inner Mongolia Qingshan Automobile. According to a new research report from the analyst firm Berg Insight, the number of active fleet management systems deployed in commercial vehicle fleets in Europe was 2.5 million in Q4-2011. Growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 17.9 per cent, this number is expected to reach 5.7 million by 2016.
