Chinese automotive research and design company Techrules has established key strategic partnerships to develop its Turbine-Recharging Electric Vehicle (TREV) technology. It has signed a memorandum of understanding with supplier of rail transit equipment subsidiary CRRC Times Electric (TEC) at the Geneva Motor Show. Public Transport Victoria (PTV) in Australia has opted for Smartrak as the preferred supplier to operate the bus tracking system (BTS) for metropolitan buses.
PTV chief executive officer Mark Wild said that the award of this contract is another step forward in providing better and real-time information, as well as improved bus services for our customers. It also paves the way for the provision of real time bus tracking information via smartphone apps, online and PTV’s customer contact centre.

Washington, DC, Department of Transportation is rolling out a new system of traffic cameras designed to target over-sized trucks driving on residential streets. Police and the DOT have received complaints about trucks ignoring signs warning truck drivers not to pass through residential areas, so they’re testing the eight new cameras. The cameras are portable, so they can be easily moved to different locations. The District plans to have them fully operational and issuing tickets within the next two months
