The Indiana Departments of Transportation and Revenue, Indiana State Police, Purdue University and Kapsch TrafficCom have begun a pilot program to study a technology-driven approach to overweight vehicle and credential enforcement that holds the potential to extend highway life, capture fees now being evaded, increase truck compliance and enhance safety.
Under the pilot program, the State will leverage Kapsch TrafficCom’s commercial enforcement platform to identify, weigh and assess the legal compliance
The Netherlands is the number one country in terms of readiness to deploy autonomous vehicles (AVs) – except for one small problem: bicycles.
People on two wheels - in this notoriously bike-friendly country - pose a problem for the deployment of AVs in built-up areas, according to research by KPMG.
“We have a lot of bicycles,” says Stijn de Groen, manager digital advisory, automotive, at KPMG in the Netherlands. “In urban, crowded areas it will be very difficult to start autonomous driving.”

Aesys, a specialist in the LED display industry, will be using Intertraffic Amsterdam 2014 to highlight its range of traffic variable message signs (VMS) with ULP Technology. The company claims ULP (ultra low power) is the best existing technology for low consumption applications. It enables high efficiency LEDs with ULP piloting, power supplies with low dispersion, optimised electronic control, heat dissipation without external air exchange and high thermal dissipation paint. In addition, the company says
