WiseCow wireless magneto delivers real time vehicle detection and flow data

French company Hikob will be presenting the Wise Cow device, a new generation of wireless magneto resistive sensor node. It can be placed between the road pavement in a few minutes and communicates real-time information on vehicle detection and flows. The device can be configured in a dynamic or in a static detection mode for traffic or parking applications. It can also measure the road surface temperatures which is useful in the winter service decision-making process.

Reducing detection costs benefits intersection management
The continuing, favourable performance-versus-cost situation concerning detection and monitoring technologies is driving the proliferation of intelligence across road networks. The effective and safe management of intersections is a focus for network operators and systems manufacturers alike. The most complicated of road environments, and statistically among the least safe, intersections enjoy particular emphasis in longer-term work on cooperative infrastructure solutions. However there are current developm

Verona selects Nedap real-time parking sensors
Following a pilot project, the city of Verona in Italy has integrated Nedap’s Sensit wireless parking sensors with Wes Park software from Project Automation in a bid to manage parking in the city’s narrow streets. By introducing Nedap’s Sensit sensors, which improve utilisation of the city’s existing parking spaces, AMT, the service company managing the Verona Urban Parking Plan is now able to optimise parking. The system consists of wireless parking sensors that detect in real-time whether or not a s

Options abound for road weather sensing
Meteorological organisations invest millions in super-computers to crunch data for ever-more accurate forecasts but inherent unpredictability means that other methods of alerting drivers and road authorities to fast-changing weather and highway conditions are essential. For years, static weather sensors to measure factors such as surface water, ice or high roadway temperatures have been embedded in highways to provide such data. But that is changing.
