American Telephone & Telegraph (AT&T), Ford, Nokia and Qualcomm Technologies are teaming up with the intention of accelerating the development of connected cars by trailing Cellular-V2X (C-V2X) technologies in the U.S. These tests are aimed at showing automakers and road operators the anticipated cost-efficient benefits associated with embedded C-V2X in vehicles and synergies between the deployment of cellular base stations and roadside infrastructure. Initial testing is expected to begin later this year.
Virgin Hyperloop One (VHO) has launched its passenger application demo, powered by Here Technologies (Here), at the Consumer Electronics Show 2018. The app aims to provide an end-to-end passenger experience by enabling users to book and pay for a journey as well as other modes of transportation, including public, private and ride-shares. MaaS America, a non-profit association founded to advance a model of Mobility as a Service (MaaS) in the US, has announced the members of its charter advisory committee.
The MaaS America Advisory Committee (MAAC) is a volunteer group that will offer advice to MaaS America on matters ranging from association policies, programmes and events to communications and operation.

The UK government is investing more than £6 million in the deployment of chargepoints to support ultra-low emission taxis across the country.
The money will be used to install nearly 300 rapid points and 46 fast ones in 17 local authorities, including Greater Manchester, Brighton & Hove and Leicester.
Rapid chargepoints are typically able to charge an EV to 80% in 30 minutes depending on the model’s battery capacity while fast charging is expected to deliver more than 60 miles of range in 10-30 minu
