ARH is introducing a new version of its Carmen ANPR engine (used by many detection and enforcement applications worldwide), with the new software working on video streams rather than individual frame-grabbed images. Called Carmen Go, the technology is described as a camera-independent and auto adaptive plug and play system that extracts ANPR from any video stream – in fact up to eight video streams simultaneously on a single licence. Traffic hotspots in 25 of the most congested cities in the US cost drivers billions of dollars over the next ten years, according to a new report by Inrix’s cloud-based analysis tool. Inrix’s Roadway analytics (IRA) tool ranked over 100, 000 traffic hotspots with economic cost calculated on wasted time, lost fuel and carbon emissions over the next ten years.
Keolis has begun operating the first section, 30km, of a new automated metro system of Hyderabad, Telangana State, South East India. The project, launched by the Telangana government, will run across a 68km network of three lines and 65 stations in the next few years. Once completed, it is estimated to carry 1.3 million passengers daily aims to reduce road congestion and boost the local economy.
Cubic Transportation Systems (CTS) will upgrade the farebox system for Atlanta’s Xpress bus service. The company will integrate the system with the back office for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) Breeze card. CTS designed and delivered Breeze - an automated fare collection system – in 2006.
