1947 Cooper Lighting has upgraded its outdoor LED LightBar technology to improve lumen output and efficiency, while continuing to offer up to 75% in energy savings over traditional high intensity discharge (HID) outdoor lighting sources.

Designed for new construction applications or to replace inefficient luminaires, the technology is available in two versions (7 LEDs and 21 LEDs), three standard colour options (3000K, 4000K and 6000K correlated colour temperatures (CCT)) and offered in 13 different optical distributions, providing versatility for every outdoor need, including street and floodlighting, wall mount, parking garage, canopy and pathway solutions.

The Siemens LED retrofit portfolio has been extended to allow Peek Elite incandescent traffic signals to be upgraded to low-power Siemens CLS LED technology. Offering carbon and energy savings of over 75 per cent, the newly developed retrofit option follows the success of Siemens's Helios retrofit technology and enables even more existing incandescent signals to be upgraded to modern LEDs, whilst maximising the re-use of existing roadside infrastructure.

Refurbishing old dynamic message signs can save money and increase technical capabilities as David Crawford discovers. Evidence is growing on both sides of the Atlantic of the scope for retrofitting old or technically out-of-date dynamic message signs (DMS) with new electronic equipment, to save on the costs of installing full-scale replacements. In the last four months of 2014, a number of US states progressed programmes that achieved savings of more than US$1.75 million (€1.56million).

A revamp of traffic light maintenance is helping to reduce congestion, save money and improve safety on Greater Manchester’s roads, according to the latest figures from Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), which is responsible for all 2,400 traffic signals across the region. These show that the number of incidents of traffic signal failure has steadily declined over the past three years. Between July 2015 and April 2016, there was an average of 413 signal fault faults per month. This is 24 per cent
