Antaira expands ethernet switch range

7906 Antaira Technologies has expanded its industrial networking infrastructure family with the LMX-1002C-SFP series, an industrial gigabit managed Ethernet switch series has been designed fulfill industrial automation applications in harsh or outdoor environments, including intelligent transportation systems, roadway traffic control or monitoring, security surveillance and access control systems.

The cost effective 10-port industrial gigabit managed Ethernet switch supports a 12~48VDC power input range. Each unit is designed with eight 10/100Tx fast Ethernet RJ45 ports and two gigabit combo ports which provide flexibility for a network uplink with the ability to use 100Mb, Gigabit fast Ethernet or fibre-optics.  The devices provide high EFT, surge protection and are built to have a dual power input design with a reverse polarity protection. The LMX-1002C-SFP series also includes a built-in relay warning function to alert users in the event of broken ports or power failures.

KBC Networks has expanded its series of Power over Ethernet (PoE) switches with new units featuring extended operating temperature ranges for a wide range of industrial, non-conditioned and outdoor applications. The switches are either IEEE 802.3af compliant or, the higher powered IEEE 802.3at which is suitable for most PTZ cameras. Some models have PoE++ ports and all the new switches are optimised for 4K video, and in CCTV mode they support 250m cable runs with PoE.

Widespread take-up of technologies such as Bluetooth and wi-fi are encouraging the emergence of more sophisticated, while still cost effective, ITS responses to the traffic issues posed by temporary road situations such as work zones and special events. Andy Graham of traffic solutions specialists White Willow Consulting says: “A machine-to-machine radio link is far easier and cheaper than reading characters on a plate.” There can be other plusses. • Improving urban traffic control in Atlanta
    January 27, 2012
Hugh Colton, Georgia DOT details move to improve urban traffic control in the Atlanta area. With a significant proportion of traffic using freeways and toll-ways, along with a significant investment in roadway infrastructure, urban arterials are often the poor relation when it comes to ITS investment. Hitherto the primary means of Urban Traffic Control (UTC) has been the ubiquitous traffic signal. Many traffic signals still operate in a standalone mode and traffic detection is often broken, leaving the sign
