Toll route operator Eastlink, with support from Australian Road Research Board, has launched the first of an annual Victorian self-driving vehicle survey for Victorian motorists’ attitudes to and perceptions of self-driving vehicles, to be completed 8 October 2017. Budapest transport operator BKK Centre for Budapest Transport has introduced new ticket vending machines which accept both cash and card payments, enabling all passengers to buy tickets round the clock.
The company has added an English language instructional video and interactive demo to its website (link www.bkk.hu/tvm) and the vending machine menus are available in Hungarian and English, with German, French, Spanish, Romanian, Slovak, Chinese and Russian to follow shortly.
With more than seven million tolling tags nearing the end of their life, delegates to ITS Australia’s 2014 National Electronic Tolling Conference had more than a passing interest debating possible ways forward. Rex Wright, chair of the Australian Toll Road Users’ Group, said the industry was potentially facing an AUD$100million bill over the next five years but the toll operators are committed to a unified national approach, consistent with the current interoperability.
