97 Moxa, a global Provider of industrial automation solutions, is here at Intertraffic Amsterdam 2014 with a complete portfolio of systematic communication solutions with proven product interoperability and an important product launch – the VPort 56-2MP a Full HD IP zoom camera.

The company will demonstrate that progressive video surveillance solutions, including advanced HD IP video cameras with frame rate management, can seamlessly be integrated with fault tolerant, robust Gigabit networks that are planned specifically for the transportation industry, with certified Ethernet switches and reliable self-healing ring topologies.

The network backbone, be it DSL or Ethernet, cable or wireless, operates safely with reliable Ethernet extenders, converters and wireless access points and adapts to the required data volume offering the appropriate bandwidth at any time.

Moxa says its network management software supports operators by ensuring that the data networks always provide the right transmission speed, automation software for HMI and SCADA connection facilitates active data acquisition, and embedded computers manage multiple communication and control tasks.

Moxa’s new VPort 56-2MP is said to be the world’s first rugged Full HD IP zoom camera designed for mission critical applications and temperatures ranging from -40 to 75°C, without the need for a heater or a cooling fan. It is tailored to increase system reliability in extreme conditions and decrease maintenance costs for system operators.

With an optional built-in fibre interface and VP-PT1201 positioning PT scanner accessory, the new camera can be transformed into an IP positioning system with PTZ capability and comes with an advanced optical technology featuring 10x optical and 16x digital zoom to improve the efficiency of surveillance systems and ensure the best video quality. The VPort 56-2MP-S-SC’s fibre Ethernet port can extend network distances up to 140 km (87 miles), providing a viable solution for long distance IP surveillance applications.

    October 16, 2012
Wavetronix is adopting a low-key presence at this year’s ITS World Congress in Vienna, and will be appearing in the ITS America pavilion. The company’s message, ‘Rise Above the Road,’ encourages transportation professionals to move away from loops and embrace SmartSensor HD as an accurate alternative. But the secondary message is a declaration that SmartSensor HD is now an active part of European ITS programmes, with significant deployments in Denmark, France, Russia, and the United Kingdom. “Agencies under

    September 10, 2014
Citilog is introducing a North American-compliant version of its XCam-p video detection sensor. The new version of XCam-p – the ‘p’ stands for presence detection – follows an agreement with Signal Group, the parent company of Peek Traffic. Peek manufactures the cabinet interface unit for the system. Citilog’s previous version of XCam-p is used internationally but does not conform to US standards. “We’ve always made the camera head sensor but until this collaboration we didn’t have an interface board t

    October 24, 2012
Turkish company Vendeka is looking to expand its operations internationally after completing what it describes as the first passive RFID-based tolling project in Europe. The company installed the system on the Bosphorus Bridge, which links Europe and Asia. Previously, tolling was achieved by a card-based system, but traffic jams were caused by drivers stopping to place their cards in the readers. This has been replaced by Vendeka’s passive RFID system. A major advantage, says Vendeka, is that a passive RFID
  • Toshiba introduces new super charge ion battery
    September 10, 2014
Electricity is in the air – and in Toshiba’s new super charge ion battery (SCiB), on display at ITS World Congress. SCiB batteries can be charged in five to 10 minutes, compared with the traditional overnight charging required for applications such as electric buses. SCiB charges even faster than current fast charge batteries, which take 30 minutes. The ultra-fast charging is possible because SCiB can tolerate a high current of 400 amps, almost three times higher than today’s normal fast charging batt
