One such smart solution is the company’s Narrow-Band Parking Sensor (NBPS), a wireless and autonomous sensor that is compact and easy to deploy for monitoring single parking spaces, allowing cities to better manage parking challenges.
NBPS mounted in the surface of individual parking spots detect vehicle presence and send that information to a central server. They do so by automatically communicating parking space status by NB-IoT network to the Smart Parking Cloud web platform.
Volkswagen Research is testing autonomous vehicles (AVs) at SAE Level 4 in real driving conditions in the German city of Hamburg.
The announcement comes as the fall-out from VW’s ‘Dieselgate’ nightmare – when the company was found to have programmed turbocharged direct injection diesel engines to activate their emissions controls for laboratory tests - putters on. FLIR Traficon Academy is organising a variety of online training in January 2016, including ITS solutions for traffic management and Flir ThermiCam, where participants can learn how its ThermiCam/TrafiSense sensor can be used for pedestrian presence detection, bicycle presence detection, vehicle presence detection, inverse direction detection, and data collection.

Microsoft is inviting autonomous vehicle (AV) start-ups to take part in a programme which offers access up to $120,000 of free Azure cloud computing platform.
The Microsoft for Startups: Autonomous Driving programme will provide participants with access to Azure’s autonomous driving capabilities and one-to-one sessions with Microsoft cloud engineers. The company says members will have opportunities to expand their network by joining Microsoft’s autonomous driving ecosystem.
