One such smart solution is the company’s Narrow-Band Parking Sensor (NBPS), a wireless and autonomous sensor that is compact and easy to deploy for monitoring single parking spaces, allowing cities to better manage parking challenges.
NBPS mounted in the surface of individual parking spots detect vehicle presence and send that information to a central server. They do so by automatically communicating parking space status by NB-IoT network to the Smart Parking Cloud web platform.
Having had an extensive waiting list some six months before the doors open, the organisers of Intertraffic Mexico (16-18 November) have moved the exhibition to a bigger location (Hall C) in Mexico City’s Centro Banamex exhibition complex. The bigger hall offers 50% more stand space, has 7,000m2 of floor area and already 110 exhibitors from 23 countries have signed up to Mexico’s inaugural ITS exhibition.

Deutsche Telekom is within months of moving into full-scale operation of its new-generation contactless payment kiosks as it tests the technology with initial users. Pilot schemes are already underway for two versions of its MyWallet Kiosk system, Compact and Flexible. Compact processes any card, including those with PIN entry, while Flexible is optimised for payment schemes with contactless or EMV chip and no PIN entry.
French rising barrier specialist La Barrière Automatique is marking its 30th anniversary with its first appearance at Intertraffic. Featured on its stand is its recently-launched LBAT 10 full-height turnstile for pedestrian control access.
ITS New Mexico’s 2015 award has gone to the state’s Bernalillo County for establishing implementation criteria for adaptive traffic control and the installation of the state’s first system on Alameda Boulevard in Albuquerque. This uses Rhythm Engineering’s InSync Technology.
