772 McCain, a member of the global Swarco family of companies, is here at ITS America Detroit and highlighting what it claims is a massive lead in the advanced traffic controller (ATC) cabinet arena with more than 600 deployments to date and range of six ATC products. These range from the full-sized 350i ATC cabinet, ready to manage up to 120 inputs, to the Backpack Cabinet that’s barely bigger carry-on luggage.

According to McCain, applications that would have been impossible under older cabinet standards are not only possible with the company’s ATC products, they’re on display at the booth. Here in Detroit, the company is showing a first-of-its kind solar-powered cabinet that will guarantee continuous operation when utility power goes out. Another innovation, to lower the danger to traffic engineers and installers, is the company’s 48VDC ATC cabinet that also reduces the power draw at an intersection.

The company says these are solutions that put the intelligent in intelligent transportation and the smart in smart cities: green solutions that will benefit the residents of any community as well as the planet they live on.
