1777 Laser Technology arrives in Amsterdam sporting an all-new LTI 20/20 TruCam II hand-held laser-based speed enforcement system with photo and video capability for enforcement of approaching and departing vehicles at speeds up to 320km/h.

A key enhancement is the use of a bespoke camera featuring ‘point and shoot’ imaging with auto focus, iris and shutter speed selection.

The new optics can capture images of vehicles up to 150metres away for extended video tracking and number plate capture, while the processing is much faster and there are options for encrypted wireless data transfer as well as retaining the SD card.

A toggle on/off nigh time filter and a small infra-red LED strobe which clips onto the side of the main unit provides for enforcement in the hours of darkness while a bigger (9.4cm) trans-reflective LCD screen is said to makes viewing easier under all lighting conditions.

Not only can the unit be used to detect speeding but can also measures the time and distance between vehicles to prove aggressive driving and tailgating violations as well as distracted driving, misuse of HOV lanes, obstructing traffic and seat belt violations.

A rear-plate mode caters for motorcycles or vehicles without front number plate and the color-coded graphical icons make the unit easy to learn and use.

Cisco’s display focuses on a novel way of detecting traffic speeds, congestion and incidents without the use of loops. The company is using a fibre optic cable positioned alongside the road and down which it shines a light. Vibration created by passing vehicles create vibration which disrupts the passage of the light. Cisco has developed algorithms that can translate these disruptions to determine what type of vehicle is passing, in which direction, the lane it is using and the speed it is travelling. The
