73 Iteris is highlighting the new SmartCycle Bike Indicator. A first of its kind, the indicator is a low-cost solution to cyclist uncertainty at red lights. It provides confirmation to vulnerable bike riders that their presence has been detected and they will be given the appropriate green light timing to safely get through the intersection.

The illumination control module seamlessly works with Iteris video detection processors that employ the SmartCycle algorithm. The highly accurate algorithm, currently in its 4th generation, differentiates bicycles from vehicles to provide precise detection of cyclists.

In addition to showing off the new bike indicator, Iteris is promoting the web-based data service, VantageLive!. This Software as a Service (SaaS) automatically collects, analyses and presents vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian data on one easy-to-read dashboard.

Metrics can be viewed on a web browser by multiple agency personnel. The powerful, cloud-based tool seamlessly integrates with Iteris’ line of detection products. VantageLive! provides robust, multi-modal data sets that improve intersection efficiency, set project priorities and operational strategies, based on meaningful data, while also enhancing performance measures.

The SmartCycle Bike Indicator and VantageLive! service support Iteris’ message of providing safety measures and solutions toward safer streets and smarter cities where cyclists are expected and welcomed users. The company offers a full suite of products and software solutions for infrastructure management, design, safety and data collection. Iteris is inviting visitors to its stand to learn how transportation infomatics and solutions support smart city initiatives.

The move follows the company’s planned introduction of thousands of electric vehicles (EVs) onto its platform this year. Lyft says the deployment will allow its drivers to increase net earnings as it says the cost of travelling in an EV is half that of a petrol-powered car, therefore saving hundreds of dollars per month on fuel costs. Drivers can switch
