Intercomp showcases high speed WIM sensors

Intercomp Company is showcasing its strip sensor product line for High-Speed Weigh-In-Motion (HSWIM) in-road installations this year at the 2015 ITS World Congress. The sensors utilise strain gauge technology for durable, stable, and accurate data collection of vehicle weight data at a variety of speeds. Capable of ASTM 1318 Type III, or COST A(5) performance, the sensor systems provide data including the wheel weight, axle weight, gross vehicle weight (GVW), vehicle configuration and speed. 1982 Intercomp Company is showcasing its strip sensor product line for High-Speed Weigh-In-Motion (HSWIM) in-road installations this year at the 2015 ITS World Congress.

This allows users to identify traffic patterns for planning purposes, or as a real-time detection system of vehicles with weight violations.

The sensors were developed with the flexibility to be incorporated into existing electronics, or supplied with a CPU and Windows-based API for simplified integration into user software. This means components can be integrated based on the user’s specific site requirements and current capabilities.

High-speed WIM moves onto the main highway
High-speed weigh-in-motion is starting to make its mark on both sides of the Atlantic. As a transit country the Czech Republic experiences a large number of overloaded vehicles, which greatly increase highway maintenance costs. This prompted its Transport Ministry to trial an extension of the capabilities of the existing truck tolling system to allow the dynamic high-speed weighing of cargo vehicles. In effect the tolling enforcement gantries become weigh-in-motion (WIM) locations.
