For the first time, the Australian ITS Summit and the National electronic Tolling Conference (NeTC), which takes place on 12-14 May in Melbourne, will combine as the most important gathering in Australia for ITS professionals in 2015.

Cisco’s display focuses on a novel way of detecting traffic speeds, congestion and incidents without the use of loops. The company is using a fibre optic cable positioned alongside the road and down which it shines a light. Vibration created by passing vehicles create vibration which disrupts the passage of the light. Scooter-share firm Bird is to acquire Scoot, a San Francisco-based electric vehicle (EV) company.
Scoot began deploying electric scooters in San Francisco in 2012 and has expanded in Santiago, Chile and Barcelona.
Travis VanderZanden, founder and CEO of Bird says the partnership will work toward replacing “car trips with micro mobility options for all”.
Scoot will continue to operate under the same name but as a subsidiary of Bird.
