Advanced Micro Peripherals has introduced a high-performance, dual-channel, highdefinition, ultra low latency H264 encoder card, the H264-ULLcPCI, for CompactPCI systems. It allows system builders to easily add high-definition video capture and H.264/MPEG-4 AVC (Part 10) encoding to their embedded CompactPCI equipment.

The company claims this high-definition H.264 encoder is ideal for time-critical applications, such as traffic systems, as it offers ultra low latency encoding of below 40ms across the entire capture resolution range. The H264-ULL-cPCI supports two H.264 encode channels at resolutions up to 1,080p30 or a single encode at 1,080p60. Encoding can be flexibly configured to suit a range of bandwidth and storage requirements. The board has two analogue HD video input channels, each of which can be independently configured for analogue YPbPr, analogue RGsB (Sync on Green) or analogue VGA (separate HSync, VSync).

IP revolution for CCTV systems yet to happen
The IP Revolution for CCTV systems which has been predicted for some years now has failed to happen, says Craig Howie, commercial director of Visimetrics Ltd. Given the many aspects of different technologies and standards involved in moving high-value, observation-critical applications into a pure digital age, this is perhaps unsurprising, he feels.

Cohu's 3960HD incorporates a day/night 720p/30fps HDTV camera with an integral x18 optical zoom lens which provides consistent image resolution throughout the zoom range. The camera uses true day/night technology, using a removable IR cut filter that creates exceptional low light sensitivity (as low as 0.01fc).

EdgeVis removes bandwidth barriers to mobile streamed video
A new generation of video compression can lower transmission costs of data and make streaming from mobile and body-worn cameras a reality, as Colin Sowman discovers. Bandwidth limitations have long been the bottleneck restricting the expanded use of video streaming for ITS, monitoring and surveillance purposes. Recent years have seen this countered to some degree by the introduction of ‘edge processing’ whereby ANPR, incident detection and other image processing is moved into (or close to) the camera, so
