Gardasoft shines light on VTS range of LED illuminators

Gardasoft Vision is showing the advanced VTS range of LED strobe illuminators at Vision 2018 to complement its well-established VCT and VTR ranges. The VTS is designed for use in ITS applications such as automatic number plate recognition, red light violation, open road tolling, multi-occupancy tolling and weigh-in-motion systems. The VTS is packaged in a robust, IP66 enclosure and offers an instantaneous power of 1.2kW.

VTS strobes are available with a choice of infrared wavelengths for through-windscreen applications and fully covert operations as well as standard infrared illumination. For installations that require colour detection, VTS is also available with white light output and versions are available to accommodate single lane or multi-lane use. With lens and diffusers precisely matching the chosen wavelength and beam angle, the light intensity can be optimised for the specific field of view. VTS strobes include a heat sink and built-in thermal cut-out protection.

VTS Series lighting benefits from the built-in LED controller which provides fully-integrated internal timing, Gardasoft says. Intensity control, trigger input and long-distance communications can be tailored to the trigger arrangements between the camera, light and any external sensors. This capability ensures consistency of timing, power and brightness for every image, whatever the vehicle speed, which is critical for reliable measurement.

Machine vision offers new solutions to old problems
The transportation sector is set to benefit from a far wider range of machine vision technology. While machine vision techniques have been applied to traffic management applications for some years, in some areas there can still be a shortage of knowledge about what the technology can offer transportation professionals. The image processing and interpretation functions of machine vision enables control room staff to be immediately alerted to occurrences requiring attention which, in turn, enables each person
