A major new product at this year’s ITS America Annual meeting is Cobalt, Econolite’s next generation Advanced Transportation Controller (ATC). Chief technology officer Gary Duncan says the new product represents a paradigm shift in ATCs.
A new smart road stud from New Zealand-based company SolarBright can warn drivers of potentially icy roads and will soon be able to alert traffic management centres and maintenance depots of the treacherous conditions. Once installed in the road the solar-powered studs monitor humidity and temperature and if the temperature drops to 4°C or below the blue LEDs in the stud start to flash to alert drivers of the possibility of ice formation.
TSS is demonstrating latest results from modelling of the San Diego test bed of USDOT’s Integrated Corridor management (ICM) initiative. This nationwide project aims to end gridlock in urban areas via coordination of transportation operations. TSS will be showcasing results from the Aimsun predictive algorithm and real-time modelling at the heart of ICM.
