Basler IP network camera
Germany-headquartered camera manufacturer 7094 Basler will be at Intertraffic Amsterdam 2014 with a an extensive selection of ace GigE and ace USB cameras as well as IP cameras suitable for ITS applications, and also to present the world premiere of a new generation IP network camera with unique real-time trigger function and YUV feature.

The implementation of the unique real-time trigger function to record individual JPEG images of specific events, such as traffic violations, parallel to the video stream was a ground-breaking innovation but Basler has expanded this trigger function to include yet another option: Basler IP cameras can now also produce uncompressed images (YUV feature) that deliver the maximum possible detail. The images are sent directly to the PC in uncompressed form, involving a relatively large volume of data. However, the benefit is that no image information is lost in the compression process, so algorithms such as LPR (licence plate recognition) produce significantly better results than for compressed images such as JPEG or even H.264.

The first model with this YUV feature will be the BIP2-1600-25c-dn with its highly sensitive 2 MP sensor. Basler says this camera is the ideal choice for any type of licence plate detection. It has already proven its value in a variety of security and enforcement applications, and is particularly attractive in the LPR field for tasks like dragnet investigations.%$Linker: 2 Asset <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?><dictionary /> 4 80735 0 oLinkExternal www.baslerweb.com Basler Website false /EasySiteWeb/GatewayLink.aspx?alId=80735 false false%>

German company Ages Maut System will promote the e-Vignette as an intelligent solution for road user charging (RUC). As the company points out, the e-Vignette has the advantage of simplicity while achieving high compliance from drivers. In comparison with distance-based charging systems, a costly on-board unit is not required; also, no interaction with roadside infrastructure is necessary and data protection is achieved without technical complexity. Ages Maut says the system is ideal for countries which w
