Bartco launches temporary VMS for work zones

UK manufacturer of temporary, solar powered variable message signs (VMS), Bartco UK, will unveil what it claims is the first temporary VMS designed for use within work zones. The HD Quattro was developed in response to feedback from customers requiring a product to affirm on-site speed limits for work zone vehicles. Designed to show limited amounts of information, such as speed roundels, at just 600mm x 600mm, the free-standing, 12v battery-powered device is the smallest VMS in Bartco’s portfolio.

UK manufacturer of temporary, solar powered variable message signs (VMS), 8321 Bartco UK, will unveil what it claims is the first temporary VMS designed for use within work zones.

Bartco is also launching what it believes may be the first two-colour VMS of its size to feature a 126 pixel x 84 pixel dual colour matrix. The 2,730mm x 1,850mm HD VMS-C offers higher resolution than standard VMS, and was developed to enable traffic management firms to clearly display - in high-impact red and white rather than standard amber - information regarding up to five lanes.

A new generation of ITS equipment is helping road authorities get to grips with cycle safety – and not a moment too soon as Colin Sowman discovers. Cyclists - remember them? Apparently not. At least not according to the OECD 2013 report Cycling, Health and Safety which contains the statement: ‘Cyclists are often forgotten in the design of the road traffic system’. Looking through the statistics that exist (each country appears to compile them differently) it is not difficult to see how such a conclusion cou

Wavetronix is using ITS America to showcase its league of hero sensors and the challenging traffic problems they face. Many of these problems are truly wicked, from the diabolically dangerous wrong-way driver to the dastardly dilemma of inefficient intersections. Recent exploits even include an Oregon DOT project selected as a 2015 Best of ITS America Awards finalist. “Disguised as a mild-mannered white box, SmartSensors keep a watchful eye on the world’s traffic,” says Michael R. Kline, the Americas regio

SES America (SESA) recently completed the manufacture and installation of full colour LED dynamic Trailblazer signs for the Michigan Department of Transportation and is set to soon begin manufacturing of additional signs for the next phase of this ongoing work. The signs are part of integrated corridor management along I-75 designed by the Michigan Department of Transportation. Each sign is part of SESA’s Messenger 5000 embedded DMS series, a line of embedded DMS designed to display travel time, toll rate,
