The ML600Dx family offers extremely flexible platforms supporting drop and continue, as well as linear and fast healing ring topologies. These switches are ideal for intelligent traffic network applications.

With superior performance, environmental hardening, small form factor and fanless DIN rail mount design, the ML600Dx devices can be installed almost anywhere and provide high performance broadband over bonded copper. The new products also support the interfaces, protocols and options in terminal servers and PoE that are required for ITS.

Actelis switches include high level authentication and advanced encryption capabilities. The segmented and scrambled Ethernet packets are disseminated over multiple transmission conduits and include sophisticated filtering and access control using layer 2 processes.

Weather-related problems can render cost-cutting counter productive, according to CommScope’s Philip Sorrells. When severe weather conditions make headlines every winter, motorists and travellers seem willing to accept the impact on the trains and roads and yet take for granted that the communications networks will continue uninterrupted. They often appear far more upset that the information system does not give them an update on road conditions, train services or bus arrival times than they are about the a

Councils can achieve greater value with multi-purpose traffic enforcement and management platforms, says Tim Daniels of Videalert. But UK authorities could also help deliver solutions by committing to ‘joined up thinking’... Joined-up thinking’ used to be a commonly related governmental phrase and implied a commitment to looking at elements of a problem to deliver a holistic solution. However, the way that successive governments have addressed major issues has demonstrated their inability to achieve join
