Zenuity gets green light to trial self-driving cars on Swedish highways

Transportstyrelsen, the 2124 Swedish transport agency, has approved the trials which will take place on the E4 between Stockholm and Malmö; Road 40 between Jönköping and Gothenburg; and E6 between Gothenburg and Malmö.
The tests will be carried out by trained drivers who will remain behind the wheel.
Self-driving technology is already being phased into Gothenburg at the Chalmers University of Technology. Continental has secured a follow-on order for future metro projects in the Chinese city of Shanghai to help increase usage of rail and reduce gridlocks on roads.
The project will expand the metro network from 16 to 22 lines by 2020 and cover an area of 970km.

Norwegian public transport operator Kolumbus is now operating an autonomous bus service outside the city of Stavanger to provide commuters with easier access to mass transit. The vehicles run between existing bus stops and office buildings in the Frosu area.
According to a report by ZDNet, the Norwegian ministry of transport’s licence requires a Kolumbus employee to be on board the Easy Mile EZ10 vehicle and ready to intervene if a dangerous situation takes place.
