Zebra Technologies Corporation is to complete its ZXP Series direct-to-card printer range at CARTES by launching a new standard printer, the ZXP Series 1.

The entry level machine is designed for low volume printing needs – and at the same time, Zebra has announced enhancements to its ZXP Series 3 card printer for improved printer performance.

“The recent enhancements and completion of the ZXP Series portfolio are in response to listening to our customers’ needs for a full product portfolio,” said Keith LeFebvre, Zebra’s vice president of product marketing and management. “These latest updates align with Zebra’s commitment to provide printing solutions that not only deliver a quality end product, but increased efficiencies, network connectivity and advanced technology capabilities.”

Single-sided cards such as loyalty and membership cards, employee and student identification, access control cards and visitor badges are going to be the Series 1’s focus.

Meanwhile the next generation Series 3 – whose new features include expanded card support, improved monochrome print quality and a lower cost per card with the eco-friendly Load-N-Go smart ribbons - is aimed at users with medium- to higher-volume applications who need either single- or dual- sided printing. There is also enhanced end user support with the addition of Print Touch, which means users can hold an NFC-enabled smartphone up to the logo on the printer to launch web-based product information and support pages.
