“Integrated Mobility. Transportation Redefined.” is the overall theme for ITS America 2016 San Jose, a new show representing this transformative moment in intelligent transportation. According to ITS America, the theme envisions our world tomorrow with integrated mobility systems turning our assumptions upside down, forcing us to reconsider the notions of how people travel and how goods ship.

Accelerating intelligent transportation deployment to Americans and people around the world, ITS America San Jose 2016 will bring together stakeholders representing transportation and tech, innovation and implementation, public and private, and academic and research. Each day of the June 12-16 umbrella event builds with its own theme. Following pre-show public-private offerings on Sunday, June 12 – including a discussion with state Department of Transportation executives on intelligent transportation deployment – Day 1, June 13, will revolve around 4186 Xerox-sponsored “Wheels & Things” – all things using, altering or creating new ITS technology.

“We are in an exciting time in transportation with the changing face of cities, the need for multi-modal options, and integration of data to make smarter decisions,” said David Cummins, senior vice president, Mobility Solutions, Xerox. “We want ‘Wheels & Things’ to bring together the transportation key players and innovation to really discuss and showcase what’s next and how we get there.”

“We want to thank Xerox for kicking off ITS America 2016 in high gear with ‘Wheels & Things.’” This day is the launching pad of the debate, discussion, and future thinking that will drive the type of transportation and delivery we will see in the future,” said Regina Hopper, president and CEO of ITS America.

“Connected, autonomous, surface, and air transportation merging – intelligent, data driven transportation is giving us a whole new world.”

The day will start with the Next Generation Workforce V2X High School student-led lab where attendees can watch and marvel as students build, “drive” their own smaller-scale connected cars, and watch as data is “shared” between the vehicles.

Seval Oz, CEO of Continental ITS will deliver the first of the week’s keynote sessions on Monday, June 13. “Seval puts transportation at the centre of the Internet of Things (IoT). She’s leading the way, championing platforms for sharing, for giving a voice, especially to cities working toward smart futures,” Hopper said.

More than a dozen topically-focused sessions are available on Monday, organised into professional “Pathways,” including ITS University; The After-Market; The Startup Zone; Journeys to Journal: Research, Academic, Papers; Government v. Policy v. Business; and Perspectives on Terrorism.

The Exhibit Hall will open at 11:00 am and go through 6:30 pm with a reception that begins at 5:00. Featuring more than 120 exhibitors, the trade floor represents the broad spectrum, broad community, of integrated mobility driven by intelligent transportation systems.

Subsequent days of the event are equally focused on specific aspects of intelligent transportation: “The Infrastructure of Things” is on Tuesday, June 14. Sponsored by Lear, the day is built around all the things that interact with wheels and things.

Meanwhile, “Show Me The Money!” on Wednesday, June 15, will feature venture capitalists and the changing business models that are disrupting the “transportation” landscape, while Thursday, June 16, will be a series of tours that exemplify intelligent transportation at work.
