World Congress hosts ITS Hackathon

Co-organised by Ertico-ITS Europe, the MobiNET European project and Michelin Bibendum Challenge, in partnership with the eSafety Aware European project and FIA, the ITS Hackathon take places at the ITS World Congress in Bordeaux, from Tuesday 6 to Thursday 8 October 2015.

Academics, start-ups, app developers and service providers are invited to come up with new ideas and apps for mobility services using the different components of the MobiNET e-marketplace, the mobility services developed in MobiNET and traffic and transport data from Bordeaux and Glasgow.

Participants can also develop new services for the platform, such as functionalities that can be used by other services and that could eventually become platform standard features. The developed services should be designed with a European dimension in order to facilitate the take up a European wide e-marketplace.

Registration for the Hackathon will open at the end of August.   • NTSB: Uber’s AV in fatal crash ‘had software issues’

    The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has found that an Uber autonomous vehicle which killed Elaine Herzberg last year had software flaws. NTSB released a report which says the Volvo XC60’s autonomous system software classified the pedestrian as an unknown object and determined that an emergency braking manoeuvre was needed to mitigate the collision.   • Go-Ahead uses Dovu’s blockchain tech to augment customer data

    UK train and bus company Go-Ahead is to use Dovu’s blockchain-driven reward platform to gain more data on its passengers.
