Wavetronix introduces Click 650 at ITS World Congress

This morning Wavetronix will use the ITS World Congress Detroit to introduce a new traffic cabinet interface device that brings the accuracy and reliability of its SmartSensor radar traffic detectors directly to intersection signal controllers. The Click 650 provides up to 64 channels of data and effectively replaces up to 16 four-channel or 32 two-channel rack cards with a small box that occupies much less space.

This morning 148 Wavetronix will use the ITS World Congress Detroit to introduce a new traffic cabinet interface device that brings the accuracy and reliability of its SmartSensor radar traffic detectors directly to intersection signal controllers. The Click 650 provides up to 64 channels of data and effectively replaces up to 16 four-channel or 32 two-channel rack cards with a small box that occupies much less space.

The Click 650 is featured prominently in
the Wavetronix booth, along with the industry-leading radar sensors it supports. Mike Rose, the Wavetronix chief business development officer and a familiar face at ITS World Congress, says Click 650 allows transportation professionals to take advantage of advanced technologies in order to improve the safety and efficiency of their intersections.

"SmartSensors Advance and Matrix have been proven to provide the best data possible for intersection applications,” Rose says, “but, unfortunately, this powerful data has often been hindered by messy, overcrowded cabinets and the inability to communicate directly with the controller.”

According to Rose, the Click 650 has the power to change this by eliminating the need for rack cards while still allowing intersections to take advantage of SmartSensor’s powerful data. Measuring only 7.8 x 10.3 x 3.9 inches (19.8 x 26.2 x 9.9 cm), the Click 650 collects data from up to four SmartSensor units and communicates directly with the controller via SDLC. It also provides USB, serial or T-bus connectivity and includes its own power supply, surge protection and Ethernet, so bulky back plates are also no longer necessary.

“Our sensors are deployed around the world and detect billions of vehicles each day with very low rates of failure,” Rose says. “Click 650 now makes integrating these powerful sensors into intersections much easier than in the past.”
