The 324 US Department of Transportation (USDOT) is partnering with ITS America to host two free public workshops at ITS America 2016 San Jose in June. These workshops will discuss connected vehicle architecture, standards and software tools, as well as provide new training on developing a plan for deploying a connected vehicle environment.

The Connected Vehicle Architecture Workshop takes place on 16 June at 0900-1230 BST in the Almaden Ballroom of the Hilton San Jose Hotel. It will cover connected vehicle architecture, standards, and software tools. It will include both an architecture workshop and an introduction to software tools.

During the architecture workshop, the USDOT will provide an update on the connected vehicle architecture's evolution and the upcoming migration into the US National ITS Architecture and will also discuss internationally cooperative efforts to provide detailed standards recommendations across connected vehicle architectures. During the workshop, the USDOT will request stakeholder feedback and recommendations for future changes and additions to the connected vehicle architecture.

The software tools introduction will discuss the Systems Engineering Tool for Intelligent Transportation (SET-IT) which allows implementers and decision-makers to develop their own connected vehicle project architectures for deployment. It will introduce the SET-IT tool, which can develop multilayered, customised connected vehicle architectures that support pilot and initial operational deployments. Participants are encouraged to install SET-IT on their computers in advance to maximise the value of the training. The application requires an installed and activated 32-bit version of Microsoft Visio 2010 or higher. SET-IT is available at no cost from the 73 Iteris %$Linker: 2 External <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?><dictionary /> 0 0 0 oLinkExternal website Visit Website false http://www.iteris.com/cvria/html/resources/tools.html false false%>.

The Connected Vehicle 201 (CV 201) Training session - Developing a Plan for Deploying a Connected Vehicle Environment - takes place on 16 June from 1300-1700 BST, also in the Almaden Ballroom of the Hilton San Jose Hotel.

This new four-hour workshop is the latest in a series of connected vehicle courses offered by the Intelligent Transportation Systems Joint Program Office (ITS JPO) Professional Capacity Building program. CV 201 broadens each participant's understanding of the technology and systems engineering activities required to support a connected vehicle environment by describing activities and examples from the Connected Vehicle Pilot sites and other ITS deployments.
