Aimsun TSS-Transport Simulation Systems’ (TSS) Traffic Software
TSS-Transport Simulation Systems’ (TSS) 16 Aimsun traffic simulation software, capable of fusing static, dynamic and hybrid approaches within a single environment, will be a feature of the company’s participation at the ITS World Congress. But it is a sister application, Aimsun Online, that will grab a lot of attention from delegates and not just because it provides a real-time decision support system for traffic management. Its dynamic, high-speed simulation of large areas allows traffic operators to accurately forecast the future network flow patterns that will result from a particular traffic management or information provision strategy.

TSS will be highlighting the fact that, among other projects, Aimsun Online has been selected as the simulation-based subsystem in the decision support system (DSS) demonstrator in a prestigious integrated corridor management (ICM) project for the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG), in California. Expected to go live in spring 2013, the DSS is a ‘smart’ traffic management system that will give system managers comprehensive awareness of the performance of the entire corridor. TSS says it will also allow them to take proactive steps to prevent system breakdown using enhanced controls across devices such as traffic signals, ramp meters, and message signs.
