Gavin Jackman presents the data on the TRL stand
491 TRL and 1692 TomTom have announced here at the ITS World Congress that they have launched a new partnership to offer more detailed analyses of the results published in TomTom’s quarterly Congestion Index which covers major metropolitan areas in Europe and North America. The partners say the collaboration will see the Congestion Index being put to practical use in solving local congestion issues.

TRL traffic consultants are able to work with detailed TomTom data to produce customised analysis which meets the needs of road authorities, urban planners, and public transport operators.  As an introductory offer, priced at €8,000, the TRL team are offering a customised Congestion Report based on TomTom data which identifies the top 20 congestion hotspots in a metropolitan area, indicating comparative quarterly congestion, plus more detailed results for the top five hotspots, with an analysis of congestion by time of day and day of week. The data is drawn from millions of TomTom users and claimed to be the world’s largest database of historical travel times. Following on from the analysis, the TRL traffic consultants then have the expertise to help authorities develop solutions for reducing specific hotspot problems.
