Co-ordinated adaptive traffic light control is a getting a lot of attention on the World Congress exhibition floor, according to

“The system recalculates and implements the optimal light timing every cycle, so traffic controllers don’t have to set up a number of pre-defined scenarios – it does it all itself,” said TransCore’s Travis White.
If congestion stretches several blocks then all the lights on the system will be co-ordinated to deal with the backlog and during quiet times the green periods are reduced so that pedestrians are not kept waiting unnecessarily.
