Aimsun has released a software platform for the large-scale design and validation of path-planning algorithms for autonomous vehicles (AVs).
The company says Aimsun Auto allows test vehicles to drive inside digital cities - virtual copies of transportation networks, where users can safely explore the limits of AV technology.

German vehicle inspection organisation DEKRA is building a connected car test area in Malaga, Spain, as part of its international testing network for connected and automated driving. The test area will open before the end of 2017and area will focus on R&D and early production testing, while the existing test ground at DEKRA in Klettwitz and the Lausitzring race track in Germany, recently acquired by DEKRA, will be set up for automotive systems, whole vehicle and infrastructure testing.
Concateno, a leading drug and alcohol testing company, has unveiled the Alere DDS2 Mobile Test System, its next-generation handheld drug testing device. The company says it enables police to determine if a driver is under the influence of up to five drugs from a single oral fluid sample within five minutes, including cocaine, cannabis, opiates, amphetamines and methamphetamines.
