Peek Traffic Corporation’s ATC-1000 traffic controller has been approved for use on Oklahoma State Highway projects by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. The device features the company’s latest ATC engine board, a full line of communication options including multiple serial ports, multiple Ethernet ports, a USB firmware and memory port, and a range of I/O and D modules. It uses uses NTCIP communications natively and is entirely compatible with Peek’s IQ Central traffic management system.
The French city of Strasbourg is one of the nine chosen by the government to test mobile contactless services. The city council and the Communauté urbaine de Strasbourg (CUS) hope to develop several applications for general use, such as paying for parking and public transport tickets and sending out geolocalised information on traffic or availability of places in car parks.
The Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA) in Florida trialled connected vehicle technology which it says could lead to collision avoidance in real life.
The test was carried out as part of the THEA Connected Vehicle (CV) pilot, an initiative which relies on wireless communication between onboard units that have been mounted on poles along the Slemon Expressway and throughout downtown Tampa. A special rearview mirror was installed in eight vehicles to display safety alerts to drivers.
