Swarco has completed its acquisition of the traffic technology division of French firm Lacroix.

Lacroix City-Mobility comprises three companies that manufacture signal heads, controllers, and variable message and passenger information signs, as well as providing software for cooperative ITS (C-ITS) and Vehicle to Everything (V2X) communication.

It had combined sales of €27.3 million in 2023 and employs around 120 people at sites in Carros (southern France), Ploufragan (northern France) and Madrid (Spain).

“We have been successfully selling into the French market through esteemed partnerships for many years without having our own base in the country," says Swarco CEO Michael Schuch.

The acquisition is "a promising opportunity for us to amplify our presence in the French-speaking traffic technology markets, as well as in Spain".

"By uniting Lacroix City-Mobility’s expertise, geographic reach and reputation with our market-leading ITS products, systems and solutions, we are excited about the potential for substantial advancements."

Lacroix has divested its traffic tech business in order to focus on industrial Internet of Things (IoT) solutions and electronic equipment "for critical applications".

Lacroix CEO Vincent Bedouin says the sale "will enable the City-Mobility segment to achieve its full potential over the long term".

"This divestment will enable us to focus our energies on the markets in which we are best positioned to capture value, while supporting the group's ambitions in terms of positive environmental impact.”
