Successful first day for MaaS Market Conference

ITS International’s Maas Market conference opened this morning to a packed crowd of over 200 delegates at the Inmarsat Conference Centre in London.

ITS International’s 8545 Maas Market conference opened this morning to a packed crowd of over 200 delegates at the Inmarsat Conference Centre in London.

In her opening keynote speech, Anne Berner, Minister of Transport and Communications, Government of Finland, spoke of the role of governments in facilitating MaaS and the implications for central government policies and funding.

MaaS Market Conference continues tomorrow, 23 March, at 1000 with the opening keynote speech by Michael Hurwitz, Director of Transport Innovation, 1466 Transport for London, who will discuss MaaS in major cities: its potential and obstacles to progress.

    Copenhagen light rail JV appointed
    Copenhagen metro operator Metroselkabet has appointed Arup as part of a joint venture with Rambøll to develop the light rail on ring 3 for greater Copenhagen. The new light rail system includes a double track alignment of 27 kilometres and 27 stations with a rolling stock fleet of 27 light rail vehicles. This major project was planned to promote the use of public transport as well as encourage the urban development along the route and the passage across the city to avoid interchanging in the centre.

    ITS America has chosen Dr John Miles as technical editor for a new web-based resource on ITS. With funding from the US Department of Transportation (USDOT), the society plans to publish in mid-2014 in partnership with the World Road Association (PIARC) on the latter’s website.
