Strabag consortium to build section of D3 motorway in Slovakia

A Strabag construction consortium is to build a 5.6 km section of the D3 motorway in northern Slovakia on behalf of the state motorway company NDS. The US$253 million (€ 239 million) contract is scheduled to be completed after 48 months of construction.

A 3861 Strabag construction consortium is to build a 5.6 km section of the D3 motorway in northern Slovakia on behalf of the state motorway company NDS. The US$253 million (€ 239 million) contract is scheduled to be completed after 48 months of construction.

The project comprises the construction of the roadway, 19 bridges, several retaining walls and more than 11 km of noise barriers. This section of motorway forms part of the Pan-European Transport Corridor and will improve the transport connection to the country’s northern neighbour of Poland.

    Strabag’s Czech has been awarded two new motorway contracts worth US$26 million in the Czech Republic as part of a consortium with Eurovia CS. The company will build two sections of the D3 motorway linking Prague with southern Bohemia on behalf of the Road and Motorway Directorate of the Czech Republic. “We have proved our expertise in road and motorway construction in the Czech Republic in the past – including the D3 motorway, which connects Prague with Austria,” says Strabag CEO Thomas Birtel.

    Further motorway construction win for Strabag in Poland
    Construction group Strabag has been awarded a contract to build a further section of the A1 motorway in Poland. Following the award of the construction of the Woźniki–Pyrzowice section, the group will now build the 16.7 km long stretch between the Zawodzie Junction and Woźniki Junction. The project, which has a value of US$118 million (€108 million), is expected to be opened to traffic in the second half of 2019.

    Strabag to build Bosnian motorway
    A consortium led by Strabag and comprising its partners Euro-Asfalt and ZGB is to build the Svilaj-Odžak section of the international motorway corridor 5c in Bosnia. Work on the 10.4 km long section will begin in October 2013 and includes the construction of the roadway, the border crossing at Svilaj, the Svilaj toll station, two service areas and two motorway exits. The contract value amounts to around US$112 million.
