569 Sensys Traffic is launching a new-generation 3D radar, adding vehicle and lane classification capabilities to its existing, fixed Doppler radar product, which will continue to be sold alongside the new arrival. Both act as the trigger for a series of enforcement applications.

The new features come at the request of customers, says Business Development Director Magnus Liljegren, and a first live installation was due as this show opened.

“We currently have an installed base of around 3,000 radar systems worldwide, and the new radar module can directly replace that which it follows. A mobile version will follow next year.

“The same technology is also being used in a product for pantograph monitoring in the railway sector. Bridge-mounted it can detect problems at speeds of up to 250km/h replacing an inspection process which was previously manual. The technology has been available in Scandinavia for some years now but we’ve recently received a first trial order from Australia.”
