As visitors to the 108 Q-Free booth at the ITS World Congress Detroit will see, the company has transformed its portfolio, shifting from a predominant focus on tolling to cover all aspects of road operations – financing, condition monitoring, real-time management and emerging cooperative ITS applications.
With the event being staged in Detroit, it provides Q-Free with an opportunity to highlight its appreciable presence in the North American market. Recently it acquired 5660 Open Roads Consulting, a specialist in advanced transportation management and traveller information systems that operates mission-critical traffic systems and undertakes video-based surveillance of critical assets in 30 states across the US.
Previously, Q-Free bought 7045 TCS International, a US-based, international supplier of advanced parking guidance systems. Meanwhile, Dacolian USA, another Q-Free group company, is North America’s major supplier of automatic number plate recognition and vehicle signature recognition image processing software.
Nevertheless, says Thomas Falck, CEO, these developments have to be considered in an international context: “The North American region will play an increasing part in our future but it is the international nature of our business which remains one of our core strengths. We will be keen to demonstrate at the 6456 ITS World Congress that with offices around the world, we have a huge range of talent and experience on which to draw. This means we can create solutions which benefit from the best of global practice but which, nevertheless, are closely tailored to local needs.”
To be premiered at the 19th ITS World Congress in Vienna, the “Kongressnavigator” app for iPhone, Android and mobile web is the first app to combine navigation through the city with guidance to the congress centre. The app provides GPS based navigation with real time public transport information, suggesting the best metro, car and cycle routes. It also integrates the conference programme, enabling visitors to plan their visit before they leave home, bookmark sessions and demonstrations and providing them
Case Systems, which develops and maintains innovative reliable wireless technologies for the transportation and parking industries, will use the ITS America Annual Meeting to highlight its roadside call box technology and parking systems.
Motorists drive to a location to do something, not to park. Minimising the effort required to park is the aim of a new system that integrates EasyPark’s new in-car parking payment app with the forthcoming Volvo Sensus Connect in-car information and navigation system.
When a motorist parks up, at a location suggested by Sensus Connect close to the driver’s stated destination, they receive a message on the dashboard display asking if they wish to start a parking transaction.
Visitors to the Eyevis stand can see a host of new display wall technology including the latest eyeCON MetaWall 2.0, a new series of intelligent and a high luminance LED wall.
MetaWall 2.0 is a flexible software-based system for signal transmission and the control of video walls and single displays. Using MetaWall 2.0 several video walls and single displays can be interconnected to a single user interface above the limit of one graphics controller.
