PTV calls for guidelines on secure data exchange

At this year's annual summit of the International Transport Forum in Leipzig, German PTV Group called on lawmakers to establish the rules and guidelines required to ensure open, standardised and secure data exchange. At this year's annual summit of the 998 International Transport Forum in Leipzig, German 3264 PTV Group called on lawmakers to establish the rules and guidelines required to ensure open, standardised and secure data exchange.  The company claims that the legal issues relating to the ever increasing amount of data available have to be resolved soon to will allow industry partners to launch new applications that solve transport-related issues in a more efficient manner.

As a representative of the IT industry and 7353 OECD corporate partner board, Vincent Kobesen, CEO of PTV Group, called upon policy makers to establish a legal framework: "Without clear legal provisions concerning data exchange and data sharing there is an artificial and unnecessary block on how we can use the full range of existing IT innovations and big data for infrastructure optimisation that can benefit our society."

Kobesen urges the stakeholders from the traffic and transport sector to work more closely together and to share their data and results in the future. Communities, government and industry have to join forces to effectively address the issues that will shape people's lives in the years ahead."
