Preliminary programme and registration for 19th World Congress announced

The organisers of the 19th ITS World Congress which will take place in Europe this year in beautiful Vienna, Austria from 22-26 October 2012, have launched the preliminary programme and announced that registration is open.

The organisers of the 19th 6456 ITS World Congress which will take place in Europe this year in beautiful Vienna, Austria from 22-26 October 2012, have launched the preliminary programme and announced that registration is open.

Under the theme ‘Smarter on the way’ the event will focus on the benefits of ITS for all users; ITS professionals, business leaders and public authorities will have the chance to experience  and discover hybrid and electric vehicles, autonomous cars, car-to-car and car-to-infrastructure communication.

This year's Congress will be structured around  six main topics: optimising provision and use of infrastructure, traffic and travel data and information; intelligent infrastructure; continuity and interoperability of seamless multimodal services for mobility; integrated safety and security for all users; connected vehicles, infrastructure and users for cooperative mobility services; and sustainable, clean and energy efficient mobility.

The Congress is organised by 374 Ertico - ITS Europe in close cooperation with the 1690 European Commission, 560 ITS America and ITS Asia-Pacific and will be hosted by the Austrian Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology, 4793 AustriaTech and 5499 ITS Austria. The organisers expect some 10,000 delegates for the event which will feature over 800 papers and 231 sessions, including plenaries, executive, special, technical and scientific, as well as interactive sessions.
