101 Peek Traffic has announced its next-generation Spinnaker advanced traffic management system (ATMS) that the company says handles considerably more than standard ATMS duties.

“It’s a true, web-based application, using the latest
 web technologies such as
HTML5 and Javascript, said Ray Deer, chief technology officer with Peek’s parent company, Signal Group. It can also be used with a variety of operating systems, including Windows, Mac and Android.

Spinnaker is an integration platform for traffic control centres. “It’s modular, so customers can be equipped with all the modules they need, based on the field devices they are managing,” said Deer.

“It’s not only a traffic management system, it’s more
of a monitoring system for different sub-systems that can control traffic, travel times or CCTV cameras.” One advantage, he added, is that compared
to earlier systems it cuts the communication bandwidth requirement 10-fold.
It also supports the latest NTCIP standards.

“There’s nothing to install on the user’s computer, it’s all server-based, which makes it highly scaleable.”
The system is due to be launched on the market in January 2015.
