Companies have been aware for years that personal data is like gold. It can be mined, sorted and sold as a product. It is so valuable that companies are prepared to provide services for no charge, in return for information about the people using them. Some customers are completely happy to hand over this information, seeing this as part of the modern world. Others are more reluctant. Italian firm Snoline says that its Tau Tube redirective crash cushion offers low-cost crash protection. Paula Ferraris, communications & marketing manager for the firm said: “It is like the previous Tau but with a new impact absorbing system. Budapest transport operator BKK Centre for Budapest Transport has introduced new ticket vending machines which accept both cash and card payments, enabling all passengers to buy tickets round the clock.
The company has added an English language instructional video and interactive demo to its website (link www.bkk.hu/tvm) and the vending machine menus are available in Hungarian and English, with German, French, Spanish, Romanian, Slovak, Chinese and Russian to follow shortly.
